10 Tips for Using Email Marketing to Promote Your Pest Control Services

Email marketing is one form of digital or online marketing that can be a powerful communication tool and increase return on investment (ROI) if done correctly. It uses the business’s email address to send messages to its contact lists. The business sends messages such as news, limited-time offers, product offerings, and other things that may interest its customers. Email marketing is an inexpensive way to promote the business, build relationships, and increase sales.

Most of the time, the company won’t have to pay for anything in email marketing. They can easily build their contact lists on their website when their visitors subscribe to them. They can also buy contact lists from other businesses, which can only cost a few bucks for thousands of emails. So if you’re considering doing email marketing for your pest control business, below are 10 tips you can apply to your campaign.

Create Your Own Email Address

Before you can even draft and send your email messages to your contact list, you should have your email address. Yes, it is easy to create your own email address for your business. However, it would be better for you to have your own email domain. It means you will not use generic ones like “@gmail.com,” “@yahoo.com,” and “@hotmail.com.” Instead, you would have to create your own email domain, @[business name].com], for it to look more credible and professional. It would be something like this, @growthboundmarketing.com or “@pestcontrol.com.”

Short Messages

Keep your email message short and straight to the point. People don’t like dragging messages and will likely get tired and bored when they read long messages. Additionally, the average human attention is only 8.25 seconds. They must read the message you intended to send them by that time. Otherwise, your email marketing campaign will fail. Therefore, keep your message between 60 to 200 words only.

Add Visuals or Graphics

One thing you can also do to not bored out your readers is to add pictures or images to your email message. Don’t limit your email messages to just pure text. You can also put the important message you want to send your customers on the images for them to easily see it.

Segment Recipients

Market segmentation in email marketing can help you create more specific messages based on their segmentation. You can group your contact list based on ages, interests, and behaviors. In terms of pest control, you can segment them based on their pest concerns and their living area. Once you have grouped them, you can draft customized messages for each group to be able to send them more relevant content, offers, and promotion.

Moreover, you can address your subscribers by their names for it to be more personalized. This can help build trust between the customers and the business. Your email won’t seem like spam, and our conversion and sales will likely get higher because the right people will receive the right message.

Create Mobile-friendly Layout

Most of the time, people view their emails on their mobile phones. It is easier and more convenient that way. So you have to ensure that your email message layout is optimized. This means that the images on your email messages should be able to scale their size depending on the device being used to view them. Additionally, they should be able to click on your clickable text, images, and buttons just like how they can on a desktop.

Nobody wants to make extra effort for them to view a promotion that they aren’t even sure they will purchase. To make your email messages mobile-friendly, place important links at the top of the message, keep your images small but not too small, use text only when necessary, and find the best font text and size.

Send Emails at the Best Time

You can’t just randomly send emails whenever you want. Not everyone has their email notification on or checks their emails every minute. Chances are, your email wouldn’t be read if you sent them at the wrong time. Therefore, you should know when is the best time to send an email. This will also depend on your segmentation and other factors like the last time they visited your website, actions they took on your website, and if they completed any transactions.

You can use Google Analytics as a tool to know which time works best for the company. However, the best-known time to send emails is at 10 AM, 9 AM, 1 PM, and 3 PM on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. On the other hand, the worst time to send emails is during 7 PM and 2 AM.

Conduct A/B Testing

A/B testing is the popular and standard way of testing two versions of a thing and seeing which version works the best. You can also do that in email marketing. You can do A/B testing to see which email message format works best for your business. By doing A/B testing, you will know the right email message that will increase your open rate or the percentage of people opening the emails that you have sent them. You can do this by sending one version to some of your contacts and the other half to the other contacts from your list. Then, observe which one yielded more positive results.

Include Call to Actions

Call to Action (CTA) is what directs customers to take specific actions. Words such as “Buy Now,” “Contact Us,” and “Learn More” are just a few examples of CTA. For pest control businesses, you can use CTAs like “Call Us” or “Request a Free Quote.” Once readers have already read your email, give them something to do.

They should know what they can do after they read your email. For example, you can remind them that they left something on their cart on your website, remind them of a sale, or promote a new product. This gives them something to do after reading the email.

Creative Subject Lines

Subject lines are the first thing recipients see when they receive an email. This can determine whether the recipient will open the email or not. So right then and there, make it interesting already. Come up with a catchy, interesting, and creative subject line that will pique the reader’s interest. For example, “Eliminate bugs for just $50.” It should clearly state what the whole email message is all about. If you don’t have a good subject line, recipients can either delete or archive your message.

Add Benefits

Most people want benefits, and they don’t just do something without receiving any rewards from it. So don’t just send emails about promoting your products or services without giving any rewards to those who read your emails and choose to purchase. More importantly, loyal customers should be given a reward for their loyalty. For example, “Today only! 50% off for all Pest Control Services” or “Free pest inspection until the end of the month.” Doing so will increase the chance of more people opening your emails and re-purchasing in the future.

Owning a business is hard. It involves producing and marketing your products and services to your target customers.
